A masked man in a black cloak, gold mask, and plush ears disrupted the Christmas Vespers and approached the front of Cologne Cathedral before being escorted out by church security.
A masked man disrupted the Christmas Vespers service in the Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, when he stood up from the congregation wearing a black cloak, a gold mask, and plush ears, according to police statements reported by Bild. The man performed a short dance before cathedral security personnel, known as the Domschweizer, escorted the man out without resistance. A video posted on Instagram documented his removal.
Witnesses described the impact on worshippers, including one attendee who wrote, “My kids had for a moment real fear,” and another who commented, “I don’t find this funny at all. Respect comes first”. No injuries were reported.
