Nativity Display Destroyed in Cordovado
Vandals destroyed a nativity scene displayed on the church forecourt in Cordovado, in the province of Pordenone, during the night of 10–11 January 2026, prompting condemnation from local authorities.
The incident occurred on the sagrato of the Duomo di Sant’Andrea in Cordovado, where the “Presepio di Gigi” had been installed. During the night, unknown individuals deliberately damaged the figures and structure of the display, leaving the scene in a state of devastation when it was discovered the following morning.
The act was described by the mayor as a serious and reprehensible vandalism that affected a cultural and community symbol. A formal complaint was filed with the police, and local authorities stated they would cooperate with the investigation to identify those responsible, but at the time of reporting no perpetrators had been apprehended.
