Vandals Damage Agropoli Church
A church in Agropoli was vandalised in a late‑evening incident that left sacred furnishings and a religious statue damaged.
Damage was reported at the Church of San Valeriano in Agropoli following an incident on the evening of Saturday 10 January. Unknown individuals entered the church, located near the railway station, and caused destruction after failing to locate any valuables. Among the damage, two electric candelabra were destroyed and a statue of the Bambinello of Prague was broken.
The church staff discovered the damage at closing time, after the building had remained accessible for prayer throughout the day. Authorities described the material loss as considerable and were notified promptly.
The Carabinieri of Agropoli launched an investigation, reviewing nearby surveillance footage to trace those responsible. No arrests had been reported at the time.
