Zamora Suffers Another Vandal Attack on Church
On 18 January 2026, vandals defaced the rear façade of the Iglesia de Santiago el Burgo in Zamora with a slogan: “More housing and fewer churches”.
This incident followed a similar act of vandalism at the Church of Santa María la Nueva on 10 January (OIDAC reported), marking the second attack on a place of worship in the city that month.
Municipal cleaning crews removed the markings within 24 hours. Local residents expressed indignation, describing the acts as attacks on their religious community. Authorities did not announce any arrests in connection with either incident.
