Allershausen Church Targeted in Arson Incident
A deliberate fire was set inside St. Josef church in Allershausen, Bavaria, causing damage to the interior.
On 15 January 2026, an unknown person entered the interior of the Catholic St. Josef church in Allershausen, Bavaria, and removed prayer cards from a donation box. The individual placed the slips on lit candles, leading to a rapid ignition of paper and dense smoke throughout the building. The fire burned itself out without developing into a larger blaze.
At the time of reporting, the perpetrator remained at large. The Freising police were appealing for witnesses to come forward with information that might assist in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
