Man Attacks Woman and Sets Fire to Church in Brasov

A 29‑year‑old man attacked a woman selling candles and set fire to a church in Braşov, Romania, in an incident reported late January.

The suspect was quickly identified by local authorities and taken into custody. Police and forensic teams confirmed that he deliberately ignited the blaze inside the building.

The fire caused damage to the church’s interior, and the candle seller sustained injuries from the assault.

Proceedings were initiated against the man for vandalism, arson, and bodily harm after he allegedly set fire to the church building. A court subsequently ordered the man into 30 days of pre‑trial detention while investigations continued.
