Minors Start Fires on Church Altar in Hof
Police identified two minors who ignited objects inside, including an altar cloth, Marienkirche in Hof on two separate occasions.
Police in Hof reported that two boys, aged eleven and twelve, set fires inside Marienkirche on Lorenzstraße in two separate incidents. The first incident occurred on a Friday afternoon, when several votive candles were damaged and an altar cloth was set alight. Officers opened an investigation and identified the two boys as the suspected perpetrators.
A police patrol encountered the same boys again on the following Monday evening near the church. When officers inspected the interior, they found that the altar cloth had been singed a second time. Police took both boys to the station and informed their legal guardians. According to the police, the fires extinguished themselves, and the total property damage amounted to approximately 400 euros.
Both boys were below the age of criminal responsibility, and the case was forwarded to the local youth welfare office.
