Arson at Historic Former Scottish Church

A deliberately set fire tore through the former St John’s Church in Camelon, leading to road closures and an overnight firefighting operation.

Police Scotland confirmed that a fire at the former St John’s Church on Main Street, Camelon, was “wilful” after the blaze broke out at around 3.30pm on 14 February. A police spokesperson stated: “The fire is being treated as wilful and anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 1856 of February 14, 2026.”

The derelict 1840 building, last used for worship in 2005, was engulfed by flames, leading officers to close sections of Glasgow Road, Main Street and Brown Street while traffic was diverted.
