Convent in Navarre Suffers Repeated Disturbances
Unknown individuals again caused night‑time damage at the Immaculate Conception convent in Navarre by kicking the entrance door and forcefully striking its windows with a construction cone.
The community, composed mostly of nuns in their eighties, had experienced similar incidents over time, including graffiti, thrown objects and damage to the door during a vigil for a deceased sister. The building stood opposite the town’s youth centre gaztetxe, where previous disturbances had originated.
A local councillor reported that he had raised concerns with the municipal government after earlier episodes, but was told by governing members that “it is the stuff of drunken children”. The pattern of repeated damage indicated sustained intolerance directed at a Catholic place of worship and its elderly residents.
