Vandalism and theft at Catholic church and Bosco School in Rosarno

Country: Italy

Date of incident: March 5, 2026

Unknown perpetrators vandalised a Catholic school and the nearby parish church in Rosarno, Italy, stealing furnishings and parts of the church infrastructure. The attack targeted both a Catholic educational institution and a place of Christian worship. The incident reflects hostility toward Christian community spaces rather than a theft motivated by the value of the items taken.

During the night, unknown individuals broke into the Bosco Catholic school in Rosarno, Calabria, removing furniture, teaching materials and other items from the premises. At the same time, the nearby parish church was also targeted, where downspouts and other church furnishings were stolen.

The attack affected two institutions closely linked to the local Christian community: a Catholic educational center and its adjacent parish church. The items taken were not primarily high-value goods but included everyday furnishings and infrastructure, suggesting the act was directed at the institutions themselves rather than at obtaining valuable property.

Local authorities have been notified and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible. Municipal officials and church representatives have stated that the incident represents an attack on important Christian community spaces that serve both religious practice and Catholic education in the area.
