Catholic School in Barcelona Vandalised with Hostile Political Graffiti
A Catholic school in Barcelona, affiliated with the Regnum Christi movement, was vandalised with politically charged graffiti during the weekend coinciding with International Women’s Day. The messages the messages expressed hostility towards the school’s educational model and prompted calls for increased security measures.
The incident targeted the Real Monasterio de Santa Isabel School, where unknown individuals painted slogans on the exterior wall, including “machists out of Sarrià” and “segregation is machismo”. The messages appear to reference the school’s educational approach, which combines single-sex education in certain classes and stages with co-educational elements.
Local political representatives called for the prompt removal of the graffiti, the strengthening of preventive measures, and efforts to identify those responsible. They also warned that these kind of attacks by radical groups “intend to scare any group or entity that disagrees with their postulates.”
