Arson and Vandalism in Absam Parish Church
Absam Parish Church was the target of a serious act of vandalism, as an unknown individual entered the church and desecrated the interior.
On 15 March 2026, the perpetrator set fire to an artificial flower arrangement, pages from at least three hymn books, and religious prayer cards beneath a crucifix, after dousing them with disinfectant. Additional book pages were burned in the area of the votive candles.
Furthermore, holy water was poured onto the floor, and holy water fonts at the church entrance were damaged. Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for information.
