A church in Veert was broken into, leaving significant damage despite low material losses. The perpetrators targeted the ciborium and desecrated the tabernacle, leaving consecrated hosts scattered across the floor.
Burglars broke into the Catholic church in Geldern, Veert, by smashing a window and forcibly accessing the tabernacle. Their apparent target was the ciborium, the sacred vessel used to hold the consecrated hosts. During the intrusion, the consecrated hosts were removed and left scattered on the ground, representing a serious desecration of the Eucharist in Catholic belief.
