Vandalism in Garbenteich Church: Bible Damaged with Fire

A Protestant church in Garbenteich was vandalised, with fire damage affecting the altar Bible and altar area.

The incident occurred on 22 March 2026 at around 19:15 in the Protestant church on Dorf-Güller-Straße in Garbenteich. Unknown perpetrators entered the church and caused extensive damage inside the building.

According to reports, the Bible and its stand were knocked down, with the stand breaking in the process. The Bible showed visible burn marks, indicating it had been set on fire. Candles were removed from the altar, and microphones were damaged by fire. A cross was also found thrown onto the floor.

According to local reports, the incident involved deliberate arson against religious items, including the setting of fire to the Bible and damage consistent with an intentional act of destruction inside the sanctuary. Police attended the scene and have opened an investigation.
