Saint-Laurent Church Vandalised on Holy Thursday
On Holy Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Saint-Laurent Church in Rosny-sous-Bois was broken into and severely damaged. The main doors were smashed, lamps torn down, and the sacristy door and frame attacked with axes.
A shocking act of vandalism struck Saint-Laurent Church at 89 rue du Général Leclerc in Rosny-sous-Bois on Holy Thursday. The parish priest, Father Marcel Martinko, discovered the damage at 10:30 a.m. while preparing for the evening’s Holy Thursday Mass. The attackers forced entry with a vehicle, destroying the large entrance doors, pulling down lamps, and attacking the sacristy with axes.
The local Bishop Etienne Guillet expressed his concern over this malicious act, which follows a similar intrusion at Sainte-Thérèse des Joncherolles in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine earlier in March. A formal complaint has been filed with the authorities.
The incidnt also happened in close succesion to an intrusion into the Bourget mosque on March 30, where money collected during the services had been stolen.
