A man entered Saint-Clément Church in Arpajon, France, during Easter weekend, shouting “Allah akbar” before knocking over objects and physically pushing a worshipper. The incident involved disruption of worship and physical aggression inside a place of worship. The suspect was arrested by police at the scene.

On 4 April, a man entered Saint-Clément Church in Arpajon, Essonne, where four people were present, including the priest. He repeatedly shouted “Allah akbar”, then knelt down as if to pray. He subsequently stood up, knocked over several objects inside the church, and shoved a female worshipper.

The incident was reported by the priest, who alerted the police. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect.

The individual was identified as a man born in Tunisia in 1982. According to the report, a search of his residence and electronic devices indicated that he had conducted internet searches for “Al Jazeera” and “Bin Laden”. It is reported that he had consumed a large amount of cannabis prior to the incident and stated that he experienced a “momentary lapse of reason”. A psychiatric assessment reportedly found him to be of sound mind. He was taken into custody and subsequently released.
