Man Violently Assaults Christian Woman After Asking Her Religion
A 19-year-old man was arrested in Barcelona after allegedly assaulting a woman while also insulting her as “Christian whore”. The attack took place in the early hours near La Rambla after the suspect asked the victim about her religion.
According to police sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of 11 April 2026 in the La Rambla area of central Barcelona. A 19-year-old man of Maghrebi origin allegedly approached a woman who was walking alone and initiated a brief conversation. He asked her about her religion. After the victim confirmed she was Christian, the suspect allegedly reacted violently, shouting the insult “Christian whore!” before assaulting her.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was assisted at the scene by emergency medical services. She did not require hospitalisation.
The suspect was later located nearby and arrested by local police. He was subsequently brought before the judicial authorities as the alleged perpetrator of offences including violation of fundamental rights on religious grounds and bodily harm.
