Church façade severely defaced with satanic inscriptions in Trzebinia

Country: Poland

Date of incident: April 19, 2026

Satanic graffiti extensively defaced the façade of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Trzebinia, Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Large inscriptions and symbols covering a significant portion of the exterior wall sparked outrage among residents and prompted a police investigation.

At approximately 06:00 on Sunday, 19 April 2026, the parish priest of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Trzebinia-Siersza discovered that the front façade of the church had been heavily vandalised. Large spray-painted inscriptions, symbols and number sequences were spread across a substantial section of the exterior, amounting to extensive defacement rather than isolated graffiti.

The façade was covered with disturbing and overtly satanic inscriptions. Among them were the Polish phrases “y przyroda mną szatan – pan klękać” — translated as “And nature, through me, Satan – the Lord kneels”. The number sequence 6+6+6 was also sprayed prominently, alongside what appeared to be a satanic symbol. The scale and content of the graffiti reflected explicitly blasphemous and anti-Christian themes, significantly contributing to the sense of shock and outrage among local residents.

Officers secured the scene and began analysing CCTV footage from nearby buildings, including a camera located on the bell tower which may assist in identifying those responsible.

Police from the Trzebinia station and the Criminal Department of the Chrzanów District Police Headquarters later confirmed rapid progress in the investigation. Two individuals were initially identified as potential suspects, and one 33-year-old man was subsequently detained. At the place of his arrest, officers reportedly found inscriptions similar to those painted on the church façade, strengthening the case against him. The investigation is ongoing. Prosecutors are considering additional charges relating to offences against religious feelings.

Residents expressed strong indignation, stressing that the church is central to the district’s spiritual and social life. One parishioner commented: “The church is the heart of this district. This is not an ordinary wall that someone has smeared with paint. It is a place of prayer, meetings and our community.”
