Arson Attack at Marbach Church After Bench Set on Fire
An arson attack targeted the Church of the Holy Family in Marbach after unknown individuals allegedly set fire to the upholstery of a church bench.
A fire broke out inside the Church of the Holy Family in Marbach, Germany, on 28 May 2026 after unknown individuals allegedly set fire to the upholstery of one of the front pews.
The incident was discovered at around 4:35 p.m. when a 59-year-old woman arrived to visit the church and found the interior heavily filled with smoke. Emergency services were immediately alerted, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread further through the building.
Police believe the blaze originated from a deliberately ignited bench cushion, leading investigators to treat the incident as suspected arson.
