Assault on Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park leaves preacher injured

Country: United Kingdom

Date of incident: June 21, 2026

A Christian preacher has been assaulted in Hyde Park's famous Speaker's Corner over the weekend. The incident is the latest in a series of aggravations in the same location over the past few years targeting Christian preachers.

A Christian preacher was struck and left bloodied by an assailant at the historic Speakers' Corner in London's Hyde Park on Sunday 21 June. The preacher is identified with the name Timothy and is regularly featured on a YouTube channel on Christian apologetics where he documents his discussions and debates on Christianity and Islam at the same location as his assault.

According to news reports and recorded video footage, apart from his being of African descent, information concerning the identity or motive of the perpetrator are currently unknown.

This assault against a Christian preacher on Speakers' Corner is not an isloated case. In July 2021, Christian preacher Hatun Tash, a former Muslim, suffered several injuries to the face after being stabbed in the same location. Tash was the victim of several similar assaults and threats because of her outspoken criticism of Islam. The latest incident concerned preacher Daniel Ayettey in May 2025 who was threatened at knife-point by Ahmed Mohammed who declared that he was "going to stab" Ayettey. Mohammed was later convicted for the assault.
