Police have apprehended three men suspected of attempted arson at a Baptist Church building in Tallinn. Whilst exact motivations remain unknown, the police are investigation whether the incident was motivated by religious reasons.

On Saturday, 13 June, an attempt was made to set fire to the Nõmme Baptist Church in Tallinn, Estonia. The incident was reported to the police the following morning. At the scene, the police did not identify any suspects, but three men were later apprehended based on security footage and witness statements.

Although the building did not catch fire, it sustained damage from the attempt of up to €10,000. "It was an extremely dangerous act, and it was only by a stroke of luck that the building didn’t catch fire," said the head of the Northern Prefecture's Division of Crimes Against Persons.

The police are "continuing to gather evidence and investigate the possible motives behind the act, including whether the incident may have been motivated by religious reasons", he further stated.
