Bible Billboard in Arabic Deliberately Damaged in Haltern

Country: Germany

Date of incident: April 27, 2026

A billboard in Haltern am See displaying a Bible verse and inviting passers-by to order free Bibles in German and Arabic was deliberately vandalised. The Arabic-language section of the billboard was torn off, leading local Christians to believe that Arabic speakers were specifically prevented from reading its message.

During April 2026, unknown perpetrators damaged a Christian billboard on Mühlenstraße in Haltern am See. The billboard displayed the Bible verse "I am the light of the world" together with an invitation to order free Bibles online in both German and Arabic.

The vandalism specifically targeted the Arabic-language section of the display, which was completely torn off and rendered unreadable, while the remainder of the billboard remained in place.

A local Christian described the damage as a deliberate act intended to prevent Arabic-speaking residents from reading the biblical message and learning about the offer of free Bibles in their language.
