Public Cross in Villeneuve-Loubet taken down and stolen
In June, unknown perpetrators removed and stole a large cross erected on a hill overlooking Villeneuve-Loubet in southern France. The cross had been installed the previous month with the permission of the landowner. Members of the group responsible for its installation denounced the incident as theft and reported it to the authorities.
The large cross installed in late May by religious group Ainsi Soit-Il 06 on a hill overlooking Villeneuve-Loubet disappeared in mid-June, as disocvered by members of the group.
According to the reports, the group obtained permissiont of the landowner before erecting the cross which was a visible structure from surrounding areas and stated that they had not been informed of any decision requiring the removal of the cross and described the incident as a theft.
Reportedly, the matter has been brought to the attention of the authorities.
