Suspected Arson damages parish building at Munkshöjden Church
Police are investigating a suspected arson attack at the parish building of Munkshöjden Church in Helsinki which occurred on 14 July 2026. Firefighters took hours to extinguish the extensive fire, preventing it from spreading to the church building itself, however the parish hall sustained extensive damage.
Police are investigating an incident occurred on 14 July 2026 at Munkshöjden Church in Helsinki where the parish building caught fire. The incident is being investigated as a suspected arson attack.
Early in the morning, emergency services were alerted to the fire in the roof of the parish building adjacent to the church. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within hours, preventing it from spreading to the church building itself, however the parish hall sustained extensive damage.
The fire, which police suspect of being a sabotage, caused significant damage to the parish facilities used by the congregation, and consequently has affected the activities of the local Christian community.
