The suspect was believed to have been squatting illegally at a home near the cemetery.
The vandalism at the cemetery was found a month earlier on 7 June. According to the report, the graves were "completely ransacked", with a "total lack of respect." The local community expressed a mixture of "anger and disgust." The suspect was taken into custody for this incident. A few weeks later, the Church of Saint-Martin was vandalised when the suspect overturned trash cans, damaged liturgical items including a censor, missal, and lectern by throwing them to the ground.
Both acts of vandalism prompted strong responses from the local officials and community, as well as concerns over the woman's targeting of Christian sacred places.
