Repeated acts of vandalism damage church grounds in Weil am Rhein
The grounds and parish hall of the Catholic Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Weil am Rhein have been repeatedly targeted in acts of vandalism. The damage affected the whole church property, including seats torn from their mounting and candle wax spilled inside the church, and reports state that the constant repair and cleaning up of the church grounds is a considerable burden on the parish community, who have appealed to local residents for assistance.
According to a report from 24 July 2026, repeated acts of vandalism have targeted the grounds and parish hall of the Catholic Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Weil am Rhein. According to the parish, inside the church, seats have been torn from their mounting, candles removed and wax spilled across the floor. The parish exterior had a courtyard lamp damaged, graffiti sprayed on the wall and has recurring littering on church grounds, which the report describes as a near daily occurrence.
The repeated acts caused significant property damage and have required a considerable amount of time and effort on the part of the parish and volunteers to clean and repair the premises. Parish workers have appealed to local residents to report suspicious activity to help prevent further incidents from occurring.
