Statue of the Virgin Mary Decapitated in Montaud
Unknown perpetrators decapitated a statue of the Virgin Mary in Montaud, an important monument for the local community with valuable symbolism. The mayor of the city Joel Raymond discovered the damage and filed a complaint.
"To attack the Virgin Mary, with all that she represents in terms of symbolism whether one is a believer or not, is distressing. We are fortunate in our region to have this little heritage which is the happiness of all, we try to protect and enhance it. We're going to see if it can be restored or replaced completely." Mayor Joel Raymond wrote on Twitter.
