Church in Meriadec Repeatedly Vandalized

Country: France

Date of incident: October 28, 2020

On October 28th, the church in Meriádec was vandalized again. Unknown vandals shattered the stained-glass windows of the church by throwing stones. The parish committee has decided to file a complaint, as this is not the first time that vandalism has happened. The cost of the repairs are being evaluated and the police is investigating.

"During Saturday's service, we found pebbles littering the ground. We only had to look up to see that the stained-glass windows had been pierced from outside," said one of the volunteers of Plumergat.

"The fire extinguisher had been moved and emptied in the church. At the time, we took the measure to not open the building anymore. Only masses can be held there. In the past, we chose not to file a complaint." explained the rector Gwenaël Maurey.
