Father Adam Świerżewski Dies after being Attacked in Park
Maksymilian Adam Świerżewski, from the parish of St. Maximillian Kolbe, was taken to the hospital after being severely beaten in Alexandria Park in Siedlce. Due to the terrible injury, it was not possible to save him and he died at the age of 35 on November 11th. An autopsy was carried out and it was confirmed that he died from several kicks, punches, or hits to the head but his murderer was still unknown.
The Monks forgave the perpetrator of the crime but the lose of Maksymilian Adam Świerżewski is still incredibly painful.
"Father Maksymilian was a zealous and much-loved priest. In honour of the holy founder of Niepokalanów, he took the monastic name Maksymilian. He wanted to imitate him," reports the Catholic Information Agency. "Father Maksymilian, we thank God for your work and service. May he rest in peace," wrote Grzegorz Suchodolski, auxiliary bishop of the Siedlce diocese.
"The death of such a zealous and kind priest fills our hearts with great pain," wrote the Franciscans.
Update: The perpetrator was identified as a 23-year-old man called Rafał J, who has also been charged with the murder of a woman.
