Woman Steals Offertory Boxes During Funeral Mass
During a funeral mass taking place in the Church of San Martino in Sottomarina, a woman took advantage of the fact that the baskets used to collect the offerings were placed at the sides of the entrance to the church, stole around 1000 Euros, and disappeared. The police immediately initiated the investigations and the money was soon found, but not the woman.
At the end of the funeral held in the Church of San Martino in Sottomarina of a young man who died in a road accident, a woman stole the collected offerings destined for the man's family. The incident was immediately reported to the Carabinieri of the Chioggia Radio Mobile Unit, who intervened immediately, even though they did not have time to track her down. They collected the testimonies of those present and viewed the videos recorded by the CCTV cameras, rapidly identifying the person responsible for the robbery. A search was launched right away but the woman was not located. However, the sum, estimated at around €1000, was recovered.
