Church in Bad Rodach Severly Vandalized (Again)

Country: Germany

Date of incident: May 19, 2022

The 100-year-old windows of the St. Johannis Church were damaged on May 21st in Bad Rodach. The church has been vandalized in the past but this time was especially severe. Also, the gold-plated light cover and light, of the ambo or "reading chair," was smashed. In addition, the stained glass windows with devotional pictures were broken.

Pastor Rosenzweig commented: "It's been going on for two or three years. We've had sets of fires; wooden beams thrown into the church, parish letters and place cards torn up, hymn books destroyed, thrown around or candles stolen."

He said of the recent crime: "I suspect that they are young people. Vandalism has increased, especially during the Corona period, maybe out of boredom."

The police investigated the crime.
