Statue of St John of Nepomuk repeatedly vandalised

On the night of 31 December to 1 January, unknown perpetrators destroyed a statue of St John of Nepomuk on Odmętowa Street in Kraków. This is the second such incident in a short period of time. A similar incident occurred in April 2023, just before Easter.
According to current findings, unknown perpetrators tore the statue of the saint from the shrine and threw it against the ground. The statue was damaged - the fingers of the right hand fell off - those that had already been repaired after the April attack by vandals. The plaster statue of the Virgin Mary was also destroyed.
The frequency of this vandalism has led Christian media to suspect that the acts could be the result of calls to “filch Polish Catholics of privileges”.
