Man vandalises painting and physically assaults staff inside church
On March 28 a man entered the church of San Ignazio in Capri and vandalised the painting San Longino with a spray can and a knife. Following a brief altercation with Andrea Saltini and other visiting staff, the vandal physically assaulted the Capri artist. Saltini sustained a superficial wound to the neck, fortunately not inflicted by the knife.
The church of San Ignazio was immediately closed to the public, and the State Police launched an investigation.
The Diocese of Capri expresses solidarity with Andrea Saltini for the violent act he experienced.
