Two churches tagged with Nazi and satanic symbols
On October 16, 2023, symbols with Nazi and satanic connotations were found on the churches of Saint-Thomas and Saint-Houardon in Landerneau. According to the parish priest, the churches have already become targets of vandalism before.
Father Erwan de Kermenguy, priest of the Notre-Dame de Tout-Remède parish in Pays de Landerneau lamented the “lack of education in respect for the sacred.”
“We see regular damage such as damaged religious furniture, songbooks on the ground and damaged nativity scenes. The churches are open all the time, they are easy targets ,” Fr. Erwan de Kermenguy furthermore reported.
According to the news outlet ouest france, a complaint was filed by the parish and the Landerneau gendarmerie has opened an investigation. The mayor of Landerneau, Patrick Leclerc, did not wish to react “so as not to give importance” to this damage.
