Host Theft in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Louvroil
On Sunday, May 5, a parishioner was preparing the church for mass when they discovered the tabernacle empty. The host was stolen and has not since been found. The community is deeply shocked by this act of desecration.
"We found that an attempt had been made to break into the sacristy. The three tabernacles were attacked, those on the side altars and the one on the central altar, which contained a ciborium and the lunula," says Abbé Pascal Romefort, dean of the Val de Sambre. The priest added, "It's a total shock and incomprehension. We would have preferred them to take just the ciborium, but to take the lunula with them... It's very worrying because we don't know what they're going to do with it".
