Vandalism of statues in Szydłowo

Unknown perpetrators have painted defaced statues of Mary and Jesus in a roadside chapel in Szydłowo. In red colour they painted the eyes, nails and mouths. "This is a shameful and blasphemous act. It appears to have been done consciously and boldly during the day.", the local parish priest, Fr. Maruszewski said.
"On Sunday, we prayed for the conversion of the perpetrators, and I also ask the parishioners to provide information that will help determine who committed this act," he furthermore explained. The owner of the shrine also added, "This is an insult to the religious feelings of me, my family and believers. For so many years, the chapel, erected in memory of the accident that happened right under our windows, has stood in this place and has not disturbed anyone. I would like to look the perpetrator in the face, tell him what harm he has done and convince him not to do it."
The police are investigating the case.
