Couple arrested after stealing from eight churches
As reported on March 23, a couple was arrested for stealing religious figures in eight churches. They are accused of nine crimes of robbery with force inside churches. According to reports from the region, burglaries in churches are a problem in many small towns.
On March 20, the Civil Guard received a call from a person who was witnessing how individuals were downloading a religious image of the interior of a vehicle and introducing it into a house. The police was able to track down a woman who confessed to having stolen the figure of a church in Cogullada with her partner and her minor daughter.
In some of the break-ins the damage caused was much higher than the value of the stolen items. The police has arrested the 24-year-old Spanish woman and the 33-year-old Colombian man.
