Desecration of the Icon at Tomb of Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte
On July 20, an unknown perpetrator desecrated the icon of the Resurrection of Christ on the tomb of the late Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Neophyte. Pictures of the icon show severe damages.
The icon is located under the colonnade of the Metropolitan Church “St. Nedelya” in the capital. According to news reprts, the church community is deeply saddened by the vandalism act and is committed to ensuring that the icon is properly restored.
The police are investigating the case.
