Man attacks and insults priest in Wrocław
On 28 May 2023, a man of about 30 years of age physically attacked and insulted a priest in Wroclaw. The attack took place in the morning as the priest was returning to the vicarage from the convent of the Albertine Sisters, located near the parish church of St Maurice in Wroclaw.
In an interview with the local press, the injured priest described the course of events as follows:
‘I celebrated Mass at 7.00 a.m. I left the monastery and walked through successive pedestrian crossings. I was in a cassock. I stopped at a traffic light and then felt a strong blow to the back of my head. I turned around and saw a tattooed man, about my age. He started calling me names and threatening to hit me again."
The clergyman asked the aggressor: ‘What did I do to you?’. He did not hear an answer. Instead, he received a fist to the face.
"He clearly wanted to fight. He jerked me around, ripped my collar off.’
