"Distressing" vandalism to church roof
The Church of the Holy Trinity and All Saints in Winterton has been badly damaged in what the parish has described as a "disturbing" case of vandalism. Vandals climbed onto the roof and removed parts of it, leaving the stones beside the church. Some services had to be disrupted because of the damage.
"The church community has been fundraising for repairs to the roof, so while the vandalism was extremely distressing for all, they are grateful that no one was injured," said a spokesperson for the parish.
It has had a huge impact on the community and disrupted weekday services. However, the church remains open for visitors and Sunday services as usual.
The damage has been reported to the police - no arrests have yet been made.
