Several religious statues stolen
A recent and rather large statue of Mary of Fatima was stolen from the Notre Dame church in Niort, in the Deux-Sèvres diocese of Poitiers, on 28 July. However, this is not an isolated case.
A statue of Fatima in Niort, a statue of Saint Joseph in Thouarsais - more and more thefts are being reported in the churches of the Deux-Sévriennes. Father Julien Dupont deplores these futile but symbolic acts.
