Vandalism at Angoulême cathedral

On 7 August, the cathedral of Angoulême was vandalised: Chests were broken into, looted and even deformed with tools. Candles were thrown to the floor and their burners damaged. Liturgical equipment, such as lecterns, was also damaged.
The chapel of Saint-Antoine de Padoue, to the left of the entrance to the cathedral, was the main target of the vandals. But it was the act itself that shocked the sacristan, the volunteers and the tourists visiting the place of worship. The diocese has decided to lodge a complaint following this act of vandalism in Angoulême Cathedral'.
