Monk Dies After Attack on a Monastery
A 76-year-old friar died of a head injury and six others were injured when beaten with sticks and bottles by a 46-year-old man who jumped over the fence of the Catholic monastery in Gilet, shouting anti-Christian threats and insults. Three victims, aged 57, 66, and 95, were hospitalised with trauma and bruising.
A monk (76) has been beaten to death and seven others have been injured by a man who broke into the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Gilet (Valencia).
A 46-year-old Spaniard who has since been detained by police, hit the men with a staff from a historic statue and shouted 'I am Jesus Christ'. Six other monks were injured. He entered the building shouting 'I am Jesus Christ' before beginning to physically attack the monks 'with the intention of killing them.'
