Altar tablecloth set on fire in Schweinfurt church
On 8 November 2024, an unknown perpetrator deliberately set fire to a tablecloth inside a Protestant church in Schweinfurt-Oberndorf, Germany. The tablecloth and a diary placed on it were destroyed, but the fire did not spread to other parts of the church. Police opened an investigation, while the motive remained unknown.
On 8 November 2024, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., an unknown perpetrator set fire to a tablecloth inside the Protestant church at Am Glockenhof 9 in the Oberndorf district of Schweinfurt, Bavaria.
The fire destroyed the tablecloth as well as a diary that had been placed on it. The flames did not spread further, and no additional damage to the church was reported. The material damage was estimated at approximately €80.
Police are investigating the circumstances and motive behind the incident and appealed to the public for information that could assist the investigation.
