Religious image attacked
Someone smashed the protective glass of the Cristo del Puente image in Ceuta with a rock in a niche in the church on 28 December, and the image had to be moved to another parish.
According to a statement issued by the Vicarage, the image of the Christ of the Bridge, known as the Christ of the Afflicted, has been transferred to the Santa María de África Parish and Sanctuary, where it will remain until the chapel is equipped with the necessary security measures.
The attack has sent shockwaves through the community of Ceuta, which is preparing to participate in the Jubilee celebrations. The local authorities have condemned the act of vandalism and announced an investigation to identify those responsible.
