41 tombstones on church cemetery smeared with Nazis symbols
Unknown perpetrators vandalised a cemetery in Berlin-Heiligensee, Germany, damaging numerous gravestones and other property with extremist symbols. The incident is being investigated by police.
The damage was discovered on Wednesday, 15 January 2025. A total of 41 gravestones, four benches, a fountain, and a stone wall were partially covered with white-painted swastikas and the inscription “NSDAP.” Authorities initiated cleaning measures, while police opened an investigation.
Local politicians expressed concern, noting that cemeteries in the district—including adjacent Christian burial sites—have been repeatedly targeted in similar incidents in recent years, indicating a pattern of attacks on places of remembrance.
The police is investigating that the district office.
