Cemetery vandalised in Leon

On 7 October, tombs and statues in the cemetery at Soto and Amio in León were smashed to pieces with sledgehammers. Locals found decorations had been overturned and that the vandals had left behind a statue of Mary holding a decapitated child.
A total of three niches and a tomb have suffered serious damage after the night of Saturday or Sunday, because the exact date is still unknown, several individuals entered the cemetery and smashed several parts of it. “It makes no sense other than to do damage,” said the affected president who has visited the site to observe the damage and has described the situation as ‘incomprehensible’.
