Statue of Mary damaged
An act of vandalism occurred in a stone grotto in Przyłęk when a statue of Mary was found beheaded.
As reported on July 8, an act of vandalism has shaken the community of Przyłęk after a statue of the Virgin Mary was damaged in a stone grotto, part of the parish of St. Nicholas in Brzeźnica. The head of the statue had been chopped off. The grotto serves as an important place of reflection, prayer, and congregation for the faithful.
Residents expressed sadness and outrage at the sight of the damaged statue. “It is difficult to find words,” said parishioners who regularly visit the site to light candles or pray. While authorities have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or intentional, the community hopes the person responsible will take responsibility for their actions.
