Historic Romford Church Damaged by Apple-Throwing
In the early hours of July 11, two boys threw apples at Church House, part of St Edward’s Church in Romford, shattering multiple windows.
Just after midnight on July 11, St Edward’s Church in Romford experienced an act of vandalism when two boys threw apples at Church House, breaking several window panes. Parish volunteer Jo Sheppard described the damage as “really shocking and upsetting – this is just another blow to us.” The church, which costs over £600 daily to run, had already been struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis.
Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of two boys under 18. Photos shared by the church showed apples and broken glass scattered across the floor.
