Assyrian Christians in Gothenburg Threatened: "Convert or Die"

Country: Sweden

Date of incident: October 13, 2015

Assyrian Christians living in Sweden have been targeted with a string of threatening messages, including demands that they “convert or die.”

In an article published on October 13, 2015, Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported that Swedish Christian Assyrian Markus Samuelsson found the walls of his restaurant in Gothenburg covered in jihadist graffiti, including messages of “Convert or Die” and “The Caliphate is Here.” These same messages, along with the IS logo and the Arabic letter ن, were painted on the walls of the Christian-owned Le Pain Français bakery and the next-door pizzeria, but other, non-Assyrian owned restaurants were left untouched. It is the second time in just over a week that the pizzeria owners have been threatened with Islamic State-style messages. Local police are investigating the threats. Source and link to photo: Dagens Nyheter
